Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and professional School Nurse to join our clients team for a summer contract in Bloomsbury, London. This role involves providing comprehensive healthcare services to students, ensuring their well-being and safety during school hours. While prior school nursing experience is not required, applicants must have general nursing experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Healthcare Provision: Administer first aid and emergency care to students and staff. Manage chronic health conditions and provide routine health checks.
  • Health Education: Educate students on healthy lifestyles, hygiene, and disease prevention. Provide information on physical and mental health topics.
  • Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records of dosages and medical histories.
  • Health Records: Maintain up-to-date and confidential health records for all students. Ensure compliance with local health regulations and school policies.
  • Emergency Response: Act as the primary responder in health-related emergencies. Develop and implement emergency care plans for students with specific health needs.
  • Communication: Liaise with parents, teachers, and external healthcare providers to coordinate care and share relevant health information.
  • Health Screenings: Conduct regular health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests, and provide referrals as necessary.
  • Health Plans: Develop and implement individual health plans for students with special medical needs.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Ensure that the school environment adheres to health and safety standards. Promote a clean and hygienic school setting.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered Nurse (RN): Must hold a current nursing license in the UK.
  • Experience: General nursing experience is required. Previous experience in pediatric or school settings is a plus but not mandatory.
  • First Aid Certification: Up-to-date certification in first aid and CPR.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and school staff.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Empathy and Compassion: A caring attitude towards students and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with child development and common pediatric health issues.
