Job Description:

The School Nurse in Peterborough is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of our students. The School Nurse will collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel to provide quality healthcare services, ensure a safe school environment, and promote health education. This role plays a vital part in our commitment to fostering a healthy and thriving learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health Assessment: Conduct health assessments to identify and manage health issues affecting students.

  2. Healthcare Services: Provide basic healthcare services, such as first aid, medication administration, and wound care as needed.

  3. Health Education: Educate students on a variety of health topics, including nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and wellness.

  4. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies and administer appropriate care.

  5. Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals to support students with chronic illnesses and other health concerns.

  6. Health Records: Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students.

  7. Health Promotion: Develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives within the school community.

  8. Crisis Management: Assist in developing and executing crisis management plans, particularly during public health emergencies.

  9. Parent and Staff Training: Offer training and workshops for parents, teachers, and staff members on health-related topics.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license in the United Kingdom.
  • Previous experience in pediatric nursing or school nursing is preferred.
  • Current CPR and first aid certifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of health regulations and protocols in a school setting.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a strong commitment to student well-being.
