We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Band 6 Prison Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our client in Redditch. As a Band 6 RMN, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health nursing care within a prison environment. Your role will involve assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions, with a strong focus on health promotion.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of prisoners' mental health needs, considering cultural and spiritual beliefs/needs.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans, utilizing evidence-based interventions to promote mental health and well-being.
- Assess and manage risk factors associated with prisoners' mental health conditions, providing effective advice, guidance, and decision-making.
- Coordinate the care and assessment of prisoners through the care coordination approach, ensuring continuity and consistency of care.
- Maintain a high standard of nursing care, including clinical procedures, treatments, and the custody, storage, and administration of drugs.
- Participate in the setting of quality standards, including auditing, monitoring, and reviewing of clinical practice in line with current clinical guidance, practice, and policy.
Requirements:
- Valid registration as a Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Previous experience working in a prison or secure environment is highly desirable.
- Prison clearance is preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions for prisoners' mental health.
- Knowledge and understanding of cultural and spiritual beliefs/needs and their impact on mental health care.
- Proficient in conducting risk assessments and making appropriate decisions regarding prisoner care.
- Strong coordination skills to ensure seamless care and assessment processes.
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of clinical nursing procedures and treatments.
- Familiarity with the custody, storage, and administration of drugs in a secure environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of care and adherence to current clinical guidance, practice, and policy.
