Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our client's team in Edinburgh. As a Critical Care Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in our Critical Care Unit (CCU), providing high-quality care to critically ill patients. Your expertise and commitment will contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:

    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the CCU.
    • Monitor patients' vital signs, administer medications, and assess their condition.
    • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  2. Emergency Response:

    • Be prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies and code situations.
    • Administer advanced life support measures as necessary.
    • Maintain competency in using critical care equipment and technology.
  3. Assessment and Documentation:

    • Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical and psychological needs.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
  4. Communication:

    • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information and emotional support.
    • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  5. Infection Control:

    • Adhere to strict infection control protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  6. Continuous Learning:

    • Stay current with developments in critical care nursing through ongoing education and training.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Previous experience working in a Critical Care Unit (CCU) is essential.
  • Possession of a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate is mandatory.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications are required.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
