Job Description:

As a District Nurse with a specialisation in mental health at Derby, your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive, person-centered mental health care to patients in their own homes. You will play a critical role in supporting individuals with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive the care, education, and support they need to maintain and improve their mental well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health needs and develop personalized care plans that address their specific challenges and goals.

  2. Mental Health Care: Provide expert mental health nursing care, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation, to patients with a range of conditions, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

  3. Medication Management: Administer and monitor psychiatric medications as prescribed, and educate patients and their families about the proper use and potential side effects.

  4. Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to mental health crises, including providing support during acute episodes and coordinating emergency psychiatric services as necessary.

  5. Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and community services, to ensure holistic care.

  6. Education and Support: Provide education and support to patients and their families to help them better understand and manage mental health conditions.

  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

  8. Health Promotion: Implement mental health promotion initiatives within the community, with a focus on prevention and early intervention.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a valid license in the United Kingdom.
  • Previous experience in mental health nursing, preferably in a community or district nursing setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatments, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Current CPR and first aid certifications.
  • Drivers Licence NEEDED
