Job Description:

As a Band 6 Community Paediatric Nurse with expertise in mental health in Stafford, you will play a vital role in supporting children and adolescents with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive comprehensive care, education, and emotional support in their community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct comprehensive assessments of the mental health needs of children and adolescents and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

  2. Mental Health Nursing: Provide expert mental health nursing care to young patients, including assessment, intervention, and evaluation of care for a wide range of mental health conditions.

  3. Medication Management: Administer and monitor psychiatric medications as prescribed, ensuring safe and effective use, and educate patients and their families about these medications.

  4. Crisis Intervention: Be prepared to respond to mental health crises and provide immediate support during acute episodes, working in coordination with emergency psychiatric services when necessary.

  5. Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and educators, to ensure holistic and patient-centered care.

  6. Family Support and Education: Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote understanding and coping with mental health conditions.

  7. Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate patient records in compliance with NHS and healthcare standards.

  8. Health Promotion: Contribute to mental health promotion initiatives within the community, focusing on prevention and early intervention.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialisation in Paediatric Nursing.
  • Band 6 level experience or equivalent in a similar role.
  • Valid nursing license in the United Kingdom.
  • Expertise in paediatric mental health nursing.
  • In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders, evidence-based treatments, and best practices.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient-centered care skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Drivers Licence NEEDED
