Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our clients dynamic healthcare team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care within the operating department. This position offers guaranteed work and the flexibility of block booking.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perioperative Patient Care:

    • Assist in the preparation of the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment is available.
    • Collaborate with the surgical team to provide comprehensive patient care during preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.
    • Monitor patient vital signs and respond promptly to any changes.
  2. Surgical Assistance:

    • Prepare and handle surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
    • Assist surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs and maintaining a sterile environment.
    • Ensure the safe and efficient functioning of equipment in the operating room.
  3. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with fellow healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and anesthetists, to ensure seamless coordination during surgical procedures.
    • Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
  4. Documentation and Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
    • Document all aspects of perioperative care, including preoperative assessments and postoperative observations.
  5. Adherence to Policies and Procedures:

    • Follow established protocols, guidelines, and infection control measures to maintain a safe and effective working environment.
    • Stay informed about advancements in perioperative care and integrate best practices into daily routines.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Relevant academic qualifications in ODP or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working in perioperative care, preferably in a variety of surgical specialties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to dynamic surgical environments.
