Taking place on Saturday 25th June 2022, this year’s Cavell’s Snowdon Challenge aims to continue the tradition left by previous iterations. With the help and support provided by expert mountains guides from Aspire, the event will see participants trek their way to the top of Snowdon in the Snowdonia National Park. Arriving atop the highest mountain in Wales promises to be a memorable experience due to the breath-taking views of the surrounding scenery. However, what makes this challenge really special, is its purpose.
The Snowdon Challenge is a fundraising event aimed at providing vital support to nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants finding themselves in financial hardship. Following two of the most challenging years seen by the healthcare industry in recent memory, this event is a great opportunity to give something back to the workers who have done and continue to do so much for all of us.
Taking part in this amazing event is none other than our Clinical Nurse Manager, Ben Brown. As the captain of the Mountain Goats team, he aims to raise a total of £250 as he embarks on the quest to reach the top of the mountain. However, it gets better. Ben has made the decision to complete the challenge of climbing the highest mountain in Wales in fancy dress. What exactly will he wear? Well, that decision belongs the person who will offer Ben the highest amount of sponsorship. Speaking to Ben about his decision to participate as well as wearing a costume on the way up he told us:
"I'm very much looking forward to raising as much money as possible whilst weearing a dress".
